From Elinor Kihlstrom Wells, Sister
I do not remember too much about Gus when I was young. He was 15 years older than I was. I do remember that we never called him Gus when we were young. He was always “Sonny”. It was not until I was 16 or 17 I found out his real name. He was away at Academy and then the Army so I never saw him much except for vacations.
When I was in Academy and College he would come and visit (we lived in the same state) and he would take me out for lunch which I thought was the best!!! What I remember most was the kindness, generosity, integrity and wealth of knowledge he had. There were 4 of us kids –Gus, Ina, John and myself, Elinor. As we settled into where we lived, we all lived in different states. Gus would come visit me when I was going through some rough parts of my life and would patiently give me great advice. When he married the love of his life, Betty Ann, we were so happy he found someone so special. Our last visit with Betty Ann and Gus was June, 2022. We had a great 2 hour visit.
